What to look for when finding fruits and
vegetables for you diet!

There is no question
about it that no matter what diet you plan to go on,
fruits & vegetables are going to play a
vital role in helping you to lose weight. Vitamins and minerals
are very important as well. I will explain what exactly to look
for when choosing the right fruits &
vegetables.
In general darker
fruits and vegetables usually mean better
nutrients and oxidants. Dark salad greens such as spinach,
argula and watercress contain more nutrients than the pale one,
such as iceberg lettuce. For the best flavor and buy try and
get the fruits and vegetables when they are in season, your
next alternative is canned fruits and vegetables, but canned
fruits and vegetables lack nutrients that fresh produce
will have.
Most fresh produce is
virtually fat free. This allows you to eat loads of fruits and
vegetables and not have to worry about the amount of calories
that you consume. Not only can you fill up on produce but
fruits are mainly water so your body will get the nutrients but
also the most crucial element in the body which is
water.
When going out to eat,
be careful when ordering that salad that you think is healthy.
Most people make the biggest mistake by allowing the staff at
the restaurant to add dressing to there salad. Most restaurants
will add 4 to 5 tablespoons. Most dressings are very calorie
dense, meaning that they are loading with calories. The salad
that you could potentially be consuming may have excess of
1,000 calories.
When looking for a snack, you may think that
dried fruit is the answer but you are far from right.
Dried fruit is fruit drained of its nutrients with added
sugar. When looking for a quick snack you would be better
off with an apple or banana. Remember when looking at the
nutrition facts, don't just look at the fat grams but,
look at the sugar and amount of calories per serving.
What people don't tend to realize is that you gain weight
because you consume more calories than you
burn.
